Last night, the Senate failed to pass a temporary spending bill that would keep the Federal government running. Here’s the immediate aftermath of that action:
The sun still came up.
No one has immediately keeled over & died as a result.
The lights are still on.
The Earth has not fallen into the sun.
In other words, dispite the dire predictions of Schumer, Pelosi, & other members of the WAH!* Party, the world and universe have not come to an end.
Dispite the lack of funding for “non-essential services,” I fully expect that the impact upon the average American to be minimal under the Trump Administration. This would stand in full contrast of the previous Obummer Administration, whose goal was to make it as painful as possible for the citizens so as to blame the Republicans for the inconvenience.
So what’s the issue? Here’s a good synopsis:
““Hostage-taking” is the term that was used in 2013 when Ted Cruz and a few other Republicans blocked government funding to try to force repeal of ObamaCare. You can’t deny people essential government services just because you didn’t get your way on some other policy! Now here we are, five years later, and Democrats are prepared to deny those same services because they haven’t gotten their way on a DREAM amnesty with essentially no strings attached.” Allapundit @ Townhall.com
So this all comes down to what to do with the children of illegal immigrants who are here illegally, who are not citizens, and who are facing deportation in accordance to the laws of this country.
A question for the WAH! Party – Is this issue something that you want to hang your futures on?
The WAH! Party is in bad shape. They are heavily in debt as a result of the Obummer and Hildebeast campaigns. The apparent acrimony in the election of their co-chairs is still evident in their lack of fundraising. The treatment of Bernie is still rubbing a good portion of the Party members the wrong way. And the message that the co-chairs are sending out is appeals only to the leaches that depend upon the WAH! Party for sustenance – flyover country is not impressed. Last is that after the defeat of the Hildebeast, no one in the party is really positioned to make a run for the Presidency – they all have baggage that would send them to the bottom of the Marianas Trench.
Their solution is to push for the amnesty and full citizenship of the Dreamers. These children and young adults have come from countries where the government rules over the citizens, and the educational systems in this country has leaned toward Socialism for years. Should the Dreamers be granted citizenship with the resulting chain migration continue unabated, the WAH! Party would have a voter base of roughly 900,000+ to build upon. This is their long-term goal – a power play to get a their majority back and lock up the elections for decades to come.
This is the issue that the WAH! Party wants to shut the government down for – getting consessions for people who are essentailly criminals, putting their party ahead of the citizens of this country. Considering who they backed for the last election, perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised.
If anyone is paying attention, the WAH! Party does not have the American People rights and priveledges as part of their focus. It’s keeping themselves in power, and damned be the consequences to the United States.
Breitbart has this to say about the DREAM Act:
…working and middle-class Americans would be put in further competition for U.S. jobs against up to 3.5 million newly legalized foreign nationals. A recent report found that 1 in 5 illegal aliens given amnesty under the DREAM Act would end up on food stamps and nearly 1 in 7 would end up on Medicaid, further straining the social safety net for America’s poor.
And in the same article, here’s a partial quote (which I’ve seen from other sources) from Senator Dick Durban (D-IL):
“I’m focused on one thing — not that meeting — but on making sure that those who are being protected by DACA and eligible for the DREAM Act have a future in America. I am focused on that full time.”
