Where Do We Start?

Over the past week, the number of protests has been staggering, the obstructionism by the Senate has been frustrating, and the rulings by the Ninth Circuit Court has been puzzling as well as being as far removed from all common sense as well as the United States legal code.

All of these people need to be members of the WAH! Party tm and be issued their diaper pins.

The protests have pretty well been centered around the issue of illegal immigration as well as allowing refugees from the Middle East into this country that cannot be vetted or checked for terrorist inclinations.  The Ninth Circuit Court basically gave legal standing in the courts to this last group even though they are not citizens of this country.

vetting

My take on this as well as many others is that the rulings were politically motivated, designed to delegitimize President Trump’s administration and Presidency.  What is most disturbing is that these people do not seem to understand that the safety and security of this country is needed to insure that they would continue to have the rights and privileges of United States’ citizens to voice their opinions.  To allow unfettered immigration to this country is akin to suicide.  Ronald Reagan stated:

“A nation that cannot control its borders is not a nation.” ― Ronald Reagan

This past week, ICE has been rounding up illegal immigrants with criminal records for deportation.  While some of the arrests have been heartbreaking, let’s remember the following:

View image on Twitter

Would you want to have any of these people living next to you much less in the same city as you and your family?  Would you want an immigrant that has not been vetted living next to you?  Considering the track record of illegal immigrants committing violent and sometimes horrific crimes, it is simply not worth the risk to using an “open border” policy.  Considering what has happened in Germany (and in the United States as well) with their policy of allowing virtually all refugees into their country, is it moral to sacrifice your own citizens to to prove some philosophical or political point?  To whit:

Obviously, there will be some terrorists posing as immigrants that will slip through the cracks, but that is absolutely no excuse not to try and determine who is a legitimate immigrant, refugee, or student, and who is not.  Which makes the Ninth Circuit Court’s decision even more egregious than what I originally thought –

“One of these days the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals may declare the Constitution unconstitutional” – Thomas Sowell, 2003

Are we a nation of laws, or are we a nation of personal whims and feelings fueled by insane politics?  Once we go down that road, this country is finished.

More on this later…

Fifteen Years Later

Reflecting back on this day in 2001, the words “never forget” come to mind.  However, I do wonder if other people continue to remember what happened, and the implications of that amnesia.

The following is a post that I wrote for the five-year anniversary of 9/11, the day that Islamic terrorism came to America:

Sitting at my desk at another plant on assignment five years ago, I was finishing up some report when someone came in the office and announced that a plane had hit one of the World Trade Center buildings. I really didn’t think much of it at the time, and thought that some joy riding pilot in a Cessna got too close to one of the buildings, got caught in an updraft, and slammed into the building.

I finished up the report, and went out on the floor to check on the project’s progress, and I happened to see one of the TVs the company had set up for internal communications. Someone had put the feed from one of the national networks on the network, and I saw the WTC burning. I was stunned for two reasons – the first was that it was such a clear day, so how could someone accidentally hit one of the buildings. The second was that I just couldn’t understand how a small plane could cause so much damage. That’s when I saw the second plane hit…

Dumbfounded, I suddenly realized that the first plane was not a Cessna or other small plane, but a full-sized, passenger-carrying jet. I next understood that this was deliberate, because there was absolutely no way that two planes could hit the WTC buildings on the same clear day. Then there was the overwhelming sense of sadness, grief, hopelessness as the dawning of a new thought came to mind…

Terrorism, unlike anything that we have ever known, had come to America.

I watched, horrified along with the rest of the country, as the towers came down mere minutes from each other. I couldn’t understand that at the time – this was the last thing that I had expected. I had known that the Empire State Building had been struck by a B-25 bomber and had survived with minimal damage – why not a modern building? But that was not the case here – too big, too much fuel, too much heat – and the towers collapsed. And I wept openly as I watched the plumes of dust rise over the island of Manhattan.

Later, the news of the Pentagon being hit and the plane going down in Pennsylvania came across the news, but everyone was in shock. Who could have done this, and why? Questions abounded, and answers were few in coming. Wild speculation and rumors ran through the plant unchecked. And everyone was afraid…

Where was the next attack going to happen, and when? Everyone struggled to make sense of the madhouse that the country had become. Nothing was the same, nor would it ever be again. And the skies went silent except for the roar of fighter jets on patrol.

I feared for the future of the country, and of that of my son’s. What kind of a world was he going to grow up in? How much different was his childhood and adult life going to be than mine? The future had suddenly become so very uncertain and frightening for all of us.

The American people are now at war, not with a nation, but with an ideology that hates this country and all of it’s citizens. These people live, think, sleep, and eat with the thought of killing us and destroying this country that we live in simply because they do not like us for the freedoms we enjoy (especially the one about freedom to worship). And their reward for doing so is their version of heaven. And knowing all of this, there are those who still believe that these fanatics can be negotiated with.

In the past five years, we observed the political parties pull together like most of us had never known before, only to watch political sniping and power plays take the place of securing this country from foreign terrorists once & for all. The planes are flying again, but at great inconvenience to all. Terrorist attacks have taken place and were prevented around the world, but we all know it’s a matter of time before another attack happens here.

What does the future hold? That is unknown to all except the Creator. But I am hopeful, both in this country and my fellow Americans. We have proven in the past that we are a resilient people, able to rise and meet any challenge before us. I can only pray that this will be the case as our new enemy is as patient, cunning, and vicious as any beast of the field. And we must remember that as we observe this most solemn day.

In the years that have passed, we have seen the fall of the group that planned and committed the atrocities of  9/11, only to see a more terrifying group take its place.  Even more astounding is that the progressive liberals of the Democratic Party has taken the position of defending and ignoring the horrors that Islam represents, even defending it.  To this end, the current Administration is allowing primarily Muslim refugees into this country without serious investigation into their suitability to immigrate into this country, and the current Democratic Presidential candidate is advocating increasing the number of these immigrants under the same flawed policy.

We have seen in this country and others in Europe the results of allowing Islamic refugees into their countries without vetting.  Crime such as rape, robbery, and murder have all been attributed to immigrants who have no intent to integrate into their host country’s societies, but bring the same beliefs that turned their home countries into the hell that they were fleeing from to begin with.  The politicians seem not to care one whit about the harm that is being inflicted upon their country’s citizens, and make excuses for their course of action or inaction.

As I wrote the preceding, I’m reminded of this paragraph from a post in 2006 which stated;

Whether we like it or not, I believe that the Islamic terrorists are going to do their damnest to make this into a religious war from whatever it can be called now. They will use the classic good vs. evil argument, an us-vs.-them conflict in the name of a jihad (religious war, for those of you in Rio Linda). They will plot, plan, and execute attacks that will cause large numbers of casualties.  And the elitist idiots among us will wring their hands crying, “We don’t understand! We were talking!” Understand this, you Brie-eaters – there are people in the world that want to kill you just for the reason that you exist!! And we still seem to pursue the idiotic mantra of appeasement to those who wish nothing more than to destroy our country and subjugate us to their religion.

I am not an Islamophobe, but I am concerned about a religious theology that states that:

  1. Islam is to be the state religion.
  2. All subjects of the state are required to believe in Islam & the Prophet, and are subject to the laws of Sharia.
  3. Non-believers & sinners according to the Holy Book are to be punished up to and including execution.
  4. Women are property, not people.

This theology is in direct conflict with the Constitution and laws of this country.  And yet the political Progressive Left goes out of their way to defend Islam and its practices.  If you do not believe me, then read the entire article titled “Sharia USA” by Aynaz Anni Cyrus, a woman that fled at the risk of her life to immigrate to the United States to escape Islamic oppression.  An excerpt from that article follows that demonstrates what we are seemingly, blindly, rushing toward:

I am saying all of this because today, as I look at what is happening in America, I see our freedom gravely threatened. Islam is at war with us, and it will stop at nothing in its deliberate and sustained attack on our freedoms. Islamization of the West is occurring at a very fast pace and one of the vehicles Supremacists are using to achieve it is the flooding of Western countries with Muslim refugees. Islamic Obama has opened the floodgates and Hillary intends to escalate the process.

Our leadership and media, meanwhile, perpetrate the lie that accepting these refugees is somehow about tolerance. It is not about tolerance — it is about our values being exploited by our enemies to assist us in cultural suicide and leaving ourselves vulnerable to jihadist attacks.

The dire danger to America lies in the lies told by our leftist government and media and the ignorance of many Americans about Islam’s true character and purpose. I fear that Americans have become blind to how precious and rare freedom is and how it must be protected and fought for without pause. I can’t help but fear that what is coming to America is what came to my homeland in 1979 — and I refuse to be silenced again. And because I refuse to be silent today, I know that certain Islamic forces have targeted me. But I will continue to speak out.

I tell you these things not to gain your sympathy, but to help you understand that our freedom is under fire. Our country is headed down a very dangerous path. The Left has succeeded in making resistance to Islamization appear to be racism and hatred. We must fight this malicious lie. We must fight to become well-informed and educated about Islam in order to defeat leftist and Islamist propaganda. By remaining silent, being afraid to be called names and ignoring reality, we will be surrendering our freedoms to the enemy.

The answer to my question in the 2006 post “What does the future hold?” is borne out by events of these years.  Our country has indeed changed, and not for the better.  Fifteen years is a long time to forget the horror of that day, and the religion of the people that brought that horror.  Fifteen years to make excuses for, and to plan how to take advantage of a people so willing to forgive and forget.  Fifteen years to allow the Middle East to dissolve into Hell on Earth.  Fifteen years later, we are on the verge of another election cycle that will determine the course of this country. Fifteen years after the attack, and the forgetful public is just about ready to hand over the reigns of power to a megalomaniacal political party that is interested in its own power and not the citizens of the country.

“Never Forget” my a$$…

Thoughts for the Week

Here are some thoughts for the upcoming week…

Republican Presidential candidate Governor John Kasich is a RINO.  He  has been anti-gun until 2015 (that’s when the NRA changed his grade from a “F” to an “A”), thinks that the Iran nuclear deal is a good one,  is soft on immigration, and supports Obama’s nomination to the Supreme Court.  Like all politicians, he says what we want to hear, but his past has been more Liberal than Conservative. He needs to give up his campaign and not play spoiler.

Random Thoughts

Our thoughts and prayers go to the families of those killed in the Colorado shootings.  I don’t care if among those killed were abortionists or not, they are still people with families.

The suspect for the Colorado shooting is, at this moment, being portrayed as a loner, possibly a Christian fundamentalist, by the media.  I’m sure that the media will expand on this theme to portray all Christians as wackos and potential domestic terrorists.

If the media does this, then why won’t they portray all Muslims the same way?  After all, ISIS makes no secret that they are Muslims, they publish their actions of what they are doing in Syria and other countries, & have made very public threats against the Western nations and their people.  They’re terrorists more than any Christian denomination could ever be.

The President is threatening various States with reprisals if the States do not willingly accept  Syrian refugees.  Most of these refugees are young males, not the “widows and orphans” that the President states they are.  Most are also Muslims, mostly of the same Islamic sect as ISIS, not Christians that are bearing the brunt of the brutality that ISIS is publishing through the media.  There is absolutely no way to weed out the ISIS moles in the refugee stream, no matter what the President says (various law-enforcement agencies have confirmed this statement).  And to top it all off, Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia are refusing to accept these refugees, stating that the refugees will not assimilate into their country’s culture and represent a security threat.

refugee roulette

Why is this Administration so damn blind?  Are they completely out of touch with reality?

Speaking of people out of touch, let’s take a look at the students that are on college campuses protesting that they need protection from speech that they do not like or statements that contain “micro-aggression” content.  It would be laughable if they weren’t so serious.

These pansies have no idea what life has in store for them.  If they are offended now, wait until they leave the protective cocoon of the campus.  In contrast, let’s take a look at what similarly aged people were doing 71 years ago…

offensive word protection

I begin to wonder what “safe zone” these pansies will retreat to should someone stand up to them and present a logical and reasonable (i.e., adult) response to their inane rantings and demands…

The President got back on his gun control platform in response to the Colorado shootings – again.  As many of the readers of this blog know, gun control laws only impact law-abiding citizens by restricting their access to effective means of self defense.  Otherwise, places like Chicago would be among the safest places on the planet.

I haven’t commented on the Presidential candidates until now.  A few thoughts:

  • If the Hildebeast is charged with any felonies in conjunction with her roles in (name your favorite scandal), the Democrats do not have a viable candidate in the wings – they will be dead in the water.  Sanders is an avowed Socialist whose policies are laughable, and O’Malley has ticked off 100 million gun owners.
  • The Republicans have good candidates in the running, but just too fractured to present a united front against the issues confronting the United States.
  • While Trump is leading the polls, I do wonder what kind of a President he would make.  Running a country is much different that running a business.
  • Carson appears to be too naïve for the office.  He is absolutely a brilliant person, just out of his league.
  • Cruz’s birth in Canada to American parents may present a problem.  But then, Obama’s birth in Kenya wasn’t an obstacle…
  • Bush…  No…  Hell no…
  • Rubio is a fresh face with a compelling story.  While he is on the short list for the nomination, I’m not sure about this one.
  • Fiorina can be a strong candidate, but she has a history with HP which may not set well with various people.
  • Kasich is a conservative, but his partial acceptance of Obamacare could become an issue.
  • Rand Paul is a long, long, long shot at best.  So is Lindsey Graham.
  • Christie is a RINO – his State’s stance on gun ownership is among the strictest in the nation, of which he has done nothing to correct from his position as governor.  Absolutely not.
  • The rest needs lots and lots of help to become relevant.

Obamacare is in deep trouble.  The insurance companies are losing too much money, and cannot raise the rates high enough to cover the number of people expected to pass on joining the health care exchanges.  It’s circling the drain, and the politicians need to put it out of it’s misery.

The mere idea that climate change (aka, weather) is a bigger threat to the Western world than radical Islam is laughable.  I remember that the big issue in the 1960s was global cooling, and then it became global warming.  Then, because these morons couldn’t predict anything, it became climate change.  The truth is, weather will always be unpredictable.  Human stupidity and greed isn’t.

The President trusts Iran with a nuclear development program with a promise not to develop nuclear weapons.  However, Iran has vowed to wipe Israel and all non-believing nations off the face of the Earth.  Really, who believes that Iran will keep it’s “promise”?

With the President’s credibility so low, does anyone really believe him anymore?

Last, the latest Star Wars movie will soon be released.  As some of the readers of this blog know, I have used various Star Wars movie quotes to make a point or two.  Thus, not to disappoint…
