Hearings From Hell

Watching the circus that was supposed to be a Senate Judiciary Committee evaluation of a Supreme Court candidate, I could not believe what the Democrats had done. The timing of the accusations has all the earmarks of the Democrat’s attempt to discredit, delay, and eventually minimize if not disqualify one of the most qualified judges that has been nominated to the position. We, as Americans, should be extremely concerned over the handling of this entire matter.

“This whole two-week effort has been a calculated and orchestrated political hit, fueled with apparent pent-up anger about President Trump and the 2016 election, fear that has been unfairly stoked about my judicial record, revenge on behalf of the Clintons and millions of dollars in money from outside left-wing opposition groups.” – Judge Brett Kavenaugh, Opening Statement, Senate Judiciary Hearing, September 27, 2018.

I agree with Judge Kavenaugh on several points – this is a political hit job by the Democrats, Dr. Ford was probably assaulted at some point in her life, and it wasn’t him.

To me, Dr. Ford is not a credible witness. I know of several women who have been sexually assaulted, and they remember every single excruciating detail including time, place, circumstances, and what was done. She, one the other hand, can’t seemingly remember relevant details of what amounts to a teenage groping incident, and is not a full blown assault. Equally damaging to her credibility is the fact that her social media accounts were scrubbed prior to her coming out as the accusing party. Again, perhaps the incident did occur, but given her reputation as a party girl that has been given in the media, she has confused who did what and when. What clinched the last for me was that her good friend stated that the incident did not occur.

Judge Kavenaugh, on the other hand, was very credible. He had calendars and notes, as well as dozens of character witnesses including many women who have stated that he could not and would not have done such a thing. Years and years of interactions with women, and not one peep of impropriety. On top of that, a half-dozen FBI background checks which went much deeper that what is currently required by the Judiciary Committee.

So what’s left?

“Boy, you all want power. God, I hope you never get it. I hope the American people can see through this sham.” – Senator Lindsey Graham, Senate Judiciary Hearing, September 27, 2018.

That’s right, power.

Elevating Judge Kavenaugh to the Supreme Court would severely limit the Democrat’s ability to legislate from the Supreme Court. One such example was Roe v Wade (note: read the notes that are on Wikipedia concerning this decision, and one cannot conclude otherwise that the Supreme Court ruled in such a fashion that is not consistent with the Constitution). Challenges to lower court rulings coming before the Supreme Court with a Constitutional-leaning majority would result in the majority of left-wing rulings being overturned. This would cramp or hinder their quest for getting policies and laws that would otherwise not be possible through the legislatures.

Let’s explore one example…

One of the hysterical assertions that the Liberal Democrats have been screaming about is that the elevation of Judge Kavenaugh to the Supreme Court that Roe v. Wade would be overturned, and “hundreds of women would die from back-alley abortions.” Should a challenge to Roe v. Wade be presented to the Court, it could very well be overturned, and the responsibility of regulating abortion be returned to the States (it should never have been a Federal matter to begin with).

So what does this matter? States would once again be responsible for regulating abortions as before, and the woman’s right to privacy would be re-argued on the State level. The citizens of the State would then hold their State Legislators to the standards that they deem necessary.

So again, why the problem with allowing States to regulate abortion while following current HIPA laws?

In short, money and power.

I read the other day that the political arm of Planned Parenthood was contributing $30+ million toward Democratic candidates. Should Roe v. Wade be overturned, the money for candidates at the Federal level dries up as there is no longer a reason to help fund the campaigns of friendly House, Senate, and Presidential candidates.

Planned Parenthood is also funded with $500,000,000 of Federal taxpayer dollars per year. While that money is, by law, not to fund abortions, what it does do is free up other money in the organization to perform abortions. So in a round-a-bout way, taxpayer money is funding abortions. Should Roe v. Wade be overturned, that $500,000,000 has a very real chance of being cut if not entirely going away.

That’s the money angle – what about power?

The Democrat Party has stood on the bloody platform of abortion for years, lumping the “procedure” in with the “women’s health” issue as well as stating abortion is a Constitutional “right”. By combining these issues into one, the mere thought of a “right” being taken away with certain death women as the outcome stirs up the emotions. FiveThirtyEight.com had this:

“The number of Democratic women in Congress has surged in the last two decades, and now about a third of Democrats in Congress are female. Many of those women got support from the group Emily’s List, which supports female Democratic candidates, but only those who back abortion rights. Planned Parenthood, which provides reproductive health services, including abortions, is deeply enmeshed in Democratic politics. Its political action committee invests heavily to help the party win elections.

“The essential issue with abortion [among Democrats] is that it’s not about access to a perfectly legal health choice,” Chatelain said. “It’s about all of the issues around state rights, around privacy, about gender and the family, about wages, I think abortion has become a proxy for a number of very complicated issues. … It’s about so much more on the left.”

In other words, supporting abortion (through Planned Parenthood) leads to political positions and power.

Are there other examples? Yes, there are. I would get into the 2nd Amendment issues that the Democrat Party fears, but my time is limited today. Just take my word for it that the Democrats would go for a full repeal on the 2nd Amendment if they could a la Diane Fienstein.

Here’s the bottom line on all of this: The Democrats will use every means necessary to block, delay, or destroy a Trump Supreme Court nominee. They believe that the means they use will justify achieving any political goal they have, no matter whom they destroy in the process.

After all, if they are willing to stand in the blood of the unborn, they have no limits on the personal destruction of a person’s character or life.

Shutdown!

Last night, the Senate failed to pass a temporary spending bill that would keep the Federal government running. Here’s the immediate aftermath of that action:

The sun still came up.

No one has immediately keeled over & died as a result.

The lights are still on.

The Earth has not fallen into the sun.

In other words, dispite the dire predictions of Schumer, Pelosi, & other members of the WAH!* Party, the world and universe have not come to an end.

Dispite the lack of funding for “non-essential services,” I fully expect that the impact upon the average American to be minimal under the Trump Administration. This would stand in full contrast of the previous Obummer Administration, whose goal was to make it as painful as possible for the citizens so as to blame the Republicans for the inconvenience.

So what’s the issue? Here’s a good synopsis:

““Hostage-taking” is the term that was used in 2013 when Ted Cruz and a few other Republicans blocked government funding to try to force repeal of ObamaCare. You can’t deny people essential government services just because you didn’t get your way on some other policy! Now here we are, five years later, and Democrats are prepared to deny those same services because they haven’t gotten their way on a DREAM amnesty with essentially no strings attached.”  Allapundit @ Townhall.com

So this all comes down to what to do with the children of illegal immigrants who are here illegally, who are not citizens, and who are facing deportation in accordance to the laws of this country.

A question for the WAH! Party – Is this issue something that you want to hang your futures on?

The WAH! Party is in bad shape. They are heavily in debt as a result of the Obummer and Hildebeast campaigns. The apparent acrimony in the election of their co-chairs is still evident in their lack of fundraising. The treatment of Bernie is still rubbing a good portion of the Party members the wrong way. And the message that the co-chairs are sending out is appeals only to the leaches that depend upon the WAH! Party for sustenance – flyover country is not impressed. Last is that after the defeat of the Hildebeast, no one in the party is really positioned to make a run for the Presidency – they all have baggage that would send them to the bottom of the Marianas Trench.

Their solution is to push for the amnesty and full citizenship of the Dreamers. These children and young adults have come from countries where the government rules over the citizens, and the educational systems in this country has leaned toward Socialism for years. Should the Dreamers be granted citizenship with the resulting chain migration continue unabated, the WAH! Party would have a voter base of roughly 900,000+ to build upon. This is their long-term goal – a power play to get a their majority back and lock up the elections for decades to come.

This is the issue that the WAH! Party wants to shut the government down for – getting consessions for people who are essentailly criminals, putting their party ahead of the citizens of this country. Considering who they backed for the last election, perhaps I shouldn’t be surprised.

If anyone is paying attention, the WAH! Party does not have the American People rights and priveledges as part of their focus. It’s keeping themselves in power, and damned be the consequences to the United States.

Breitbart has this to say about the DREAM Act:

…working and middle-class Americans would be put in further competition for U.S. jobs against up to 3.5 million newly legalized foreign nationals. A recent report found that 1 in 5 illegal aliens given amnesty under the DREAM Act would end up on food stamps and nearly 1 in 7 would end up on Medicaid, further straining the social safety net for America’s poor.

And in the same article, here’s a partial quote (which I’ve seen from other sources) from Senator Dick Durban (D-IL):

“I’m focused on one thing — not that meeting — but on making sure that those who are being protected by DACA and eligible for the DREAM Act have a future in America. I am focused on that full time.”

Enough said.

Will Someone Turn Off the Broken Record?

I know that I haven’t posted for a while.  Besides life and work going on at the usual frantic pace, there really isn’t much new to post about.  Sure, there are developments on the current stories and topics, but essentially there really isn’t much new under the sun.  The following, however, did catch my attention during the ad hoc sabbatical:

The investigation into the Russian hacking/interfering of the US elections is turning out to be a three ring circus with the WAH! Party* playing the part of the clowns.  While there has been a revelation that Russia did attempt to access voter records, it was unsuccessful.  While the WAH! Party* and their sycophants in the Media point to this as being “evidence” that there was collusion between the Russians and the Trump Campaign, no hard evidence has been presented to show that this is the case.

But the question begs to be asked – If there was collusion, why would the Russians throw their resources behind the Republicans and not the WAH! Party*?  Other than the generic “business dealings” explanation, nothing else sticks.  Indeed, if there were charges of collusion, it should be against the WAH! Party*, and here’s a couple of reasons why:

  • During the 2012 campaign, then President Obummer was caught on an open microphone talking to the Russian President and stated ““This is my last election … After my election I have more flexibility.”  This was in reference to the US-led missile defense of Europe through NATO.  Almost sounds like the President was willing to throw our allies under the bus in favor of the Russian Bear…
  • It is well known that while Felonia von Pantsuit was the the Secretary of State, she negotiated a contract with Russia for access to uranium mines and material located in the US, possibly in return for “contributions” to her personal slush-fund known as the Clinton Foundation.  Sounds very favorable to the Russians and potentially damaging to the WAH! Party* candidate (subject to blackmail or at least conflict of interest charges).

Currently, there is a witch-hunt going on that will supposedly “find” evidence of collusion between the Trump Campaign and the Russians.  Personally, I believe that the WAH! Party* made this up to explain why their candidate lost to a non-political candidate.

Last, considering that then President Obummer sent US taxpayer dollars to influence Israel’s election is absolutely hypocritical.

Moving on…

The disaster known as ObamaCare is failing in more states as insurance companies pull out of more exchanges, leaving some people without insurance options.  Obamacare was designed to fail, and the WAH! Party* was playing the long game, fully expecting the voters to continue electing their candidates in order to pass single-payer government funded health insurance legislation to “save” the people.  This POS legislation needs to be repealed, not replaced, by the Republicans.

Next…

Terrorist attacks continue in Europe with the incompetent Progressive politicians stating that terrorism is now a way of life, and wants the population at large to be disarmed so that the government can protect them better with unarmed police.  Doesn’t work in France or England as the terrorists still find a way to find arms, make bombs, and run over people with vehicles in a largely gun-free zone/country.

Twits….

Another anniversary of D-Day has passed.  A lot has changed from the character of the young men who rushed into danger and death.  Now the young people rush from bad words, hate speech, and hurtful ideas to safe zones with puppies and play dough because they need protection from all things that create micro-aggressions in some of the most expensive colleges that are educating tomorrow’s leaders.

Pathetic and sad, and doesn’t bode well for the future of the country…

Climate Warming/Cooling/Change is being revealed as being more scam than science.  If it was really true, then the computer models would all agree without having to fudge or cherry-pick the data, and would also explain why the Earth has warmed and cooled in the past without man’s interference.  All one has to do is follow the money between the proponents of Climate Warming/Cooling/Change and the politicians & scientists that derive power & funding to know that their isn’t a bit of reality to any of it.  I applaud President Trump calling out these hypocrites, withdrawing from the non-binding Paris Accord that penalizes the US & almost no one else, and allowing the eco-wienies to collectively throw hissy-fits.

Yes, I will admit to a bit of schadenfreude watching them…

While there is more that can be commented on, this is what is at the top of my list at the moment.  Until next time.

More Uncivil War

Watching the WAH! Party* (formerly the Democratic Party) over the past few weeks has led me to the conclusion that these people are under the delusion that they believe that they should be the only political party in the United States.  The amount of arrogance of these people in their quest for political power is almost unbelievable in its scope as it is in the levels of duplicity and deceit.  For example:

WAH! Party member Senator Schumer believes that precedence should only be to his Party’s advantage and no others.  He is demanding that his fellow Party members filibuster, obstruct, and vote against one of the most qualified Supreme Court nominees I have seen in some time.  He is also demanding that 60 votes are required to approve the appointment of Judge Neil Gorsuch.  My response would be this:

Senator Schumer, I dare you and your fellow WAH! Party members mount a real filibuster and get up in front of the American people & speak as to why this most qualified person should not be elevated to the highest court of the land.  I want you to explain plainly the reasons for your obstructionism to the due process and precedence that you yourself championed when your power held both Houses of Congress and the White House.  Last, acknowledge that 60 votes are not needed for consent as two current Justices (Justice Alito with 58 votes, Justice Thomas with 52) were approved with less than the 60 votes you state are necessary.  After exposing yourself and your party as being crying, whining children, please remove yourselves to your designated safe space and let the adults vote.

And to Senator McConnell – enough with the tap-dancing.  Change or amend the rules to approve the nomination and move on with the other business of the Senate.  The WAH! Party has not proven that they will play fair or keep their word in the past, and there is no reason to believe that they will now.  To accentuate this last point, the rant of the newly elected WAH! Party Chair Tom Perez against your party and the President is telling.

The flap about Russian hacking into the election and supposed collusion with then Candidate Trump’s campaign is another issue.  To those accusers – produce and release hard evidence with source references now to the American People via all news agencies.  In you cannot, then STHU because you are no longer relevant.  This crap with unsubstantiated accusations is not productive, especially since the former Democratic Presidential nominee has been shown to have violated multiple Federal laws and has not been prosecuted (yet?), and has made multiple deals with the Russians for personal gain.

Last, the ruckus over illegal aliens and sanctuary cities is absolutely insane.  WAH! Party controlled cities are declaring that the rights of illegal aliens (lawbreakers) supersede those of legal citizens.  The Mayors who declare such nonsense are breaking their oaths (and multiple Federal laws) to the people that elected them in the first place, and putting their citizens in danger (see New DHS Report Reveals Sanctuary Cities Are Releasing Violent Criminal Aliens by Leah Barkouskis).

To the Republicans – the WAH! Party has declared war upon you and the American People that elected you to represent them.  What is your response?

Driving Off The Cliff

Do the Republicans have a fricking political death wish?

This past week, the Republicans have put forth their initial proposed replacement (not repeal) of the Affordable Care Act (aka ObamaCare) titled the American Health Care Act, or AHCA.  The critics have called the AHCA a number of names including ObamaCare Lite and ObamaCare 2.0.  Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) stated:

“It’s a stinking pile of garbage. …It’s not a Republican, conservative bill. …One thing that I’ve maintained is that this bill was written with the help of the insurance companies, just like Obamacare. That’s why it looks so similar.“

From the articles that I’ve read so far, the AHCA is a tweak to the existing law, keeping the popular parts, dumping the unpopular parts (mostly), but keeping the government firmly in charge.  And by the way, it appears that you would be required to buy insurance by law.  Fix it

A far cry from the “repeal and replace” campaign promises of the Republican Party.  One begins to wonder why, and that brings back something that I wrote over a decade ago:

In case any of you didn’t know, a typical politician’s primary job is not to serve the people who elected him. His primary job is to get himself (or herself) elected or re-elected. Second is to reward all those contributors that gave $$ to help him get elected. Third is to get as many perks & benefits as he can while he is in office. Last on the list is the common person like you & I.

And here we go again – that vicious circle where We The People vote professional politicians into office based on their promises only to get screwed again.  To continue with the same post:

What happens is that anything that the politician has promised, said they would do, or otherwise look into during the campaign is promptly forgotten, and we, as the stupid idiots that we are, forget right along with them. That is, until the next time re-election comes up… Then it’s the “other party’s” fault for putting up roadblocks, vetoes, filibusters, yadda, yadda, yadda as to why they couldn’t fulfill their promises.

Does this dance routine sound familiar?  But the voters have woken up, and if the Republicans continue the politics as usual routine, they could find themselves in the same condition as the Democratic Party, and We The People might just find ourselves with a vengeful Democratic Congress back in power.

Here’s the problem – government entitlements like ObamaCare are rarely (never) repealed in their entirety.  There are certain groups that depend on the entitlements, and they are usually 1) very vocal about their support, 2) the Media makes it their “human interest story” about the government abusing their power (!) by taking away their civil rights (!!) to such a program, and 3) the Media putting the politicians trying to curb the entitlement through the 9th circle of Hell for even thinking to reduce government entitlements.

I’ve read somewhere that politicians, as a whole, are some of the most risk adverse people on the planet.  And it’s true – they will go to almost any length to avoid controversy that they cannot control or benefit from.  This is exactly what is happening here.  They want to keep the entitlements for the minority while trying to appease the majority with legal smoke and mirrors – a difficult balancing act that isn’t going to go too far with an awake electorate.

Arthur Schaper at Townhall.com has an interesting take on what should be done:

…repeal the whole damn Obamacare monstrosity, and let the free market make us healthy…

Don’t just repeal Obamacare, but repeal all the stupid rules pushed by government and corporate interests to enrich themselves while impoverishing everyone else. And about more policy-oriented discussions …

Let’s repeal the nasty notion that health care is a “right” which the government must provide. It’s not working in Canada, the United Kingdom, or Sweden. Bernie Sanders is a spoiled regressive from Vermont. He should try getting health care in Canada, where he can pull a number of hope that he wins a locale’s once-a-month lottery to see a family doctor. The animals get better care than human beings.

Don’t just repeal the Obamacare monster. Remove all the decades-old layers of government regulation. During World War II, FDR imposed age controls, so employers offered health insurance to compete for jobs. Now Americans expect third parties (including the government) to bear the burden)

Arbitrary caps on medical students, guild-system quotas on medical professionals, and arbitrary licensure laws are not helping. The government that wants to keep us healthy is making us sicker.

When Medicare arrived, more people ended up spending other people’s money for less healthcare.

Get rid of it.

The tort-lawyer lobby is kicking taxpayers’ butts. Time to discourage punitive damage awards? Restore the Common Law provisions which forced lawsuit losers to pay back the winning party’s attorney’s fees?

Sounds like a winner to me.  Hope the Republicans are listening…
