Operation Overlord, June 6, 1944

Seventy-five years ago, an invasion began that heralded the end of a regime that held a terrified and war-torn Europe under its heel.

There are many things I could write about the sacrifice made by so many young men, but they would fall far short of the magnitude of their actions that day.

I have great uncles that were on the beaches that day, and they refused to talk about the chaos and blood shed that day. And perhaps, that says it all.

To those that were in that great endeavor, those that died and those that survived, we, as a country and a people, are in your debt.

We humbly thank you.
