Thoughts for the Week

Here are some thoughts for the upcoming week…

Republican Presidential candidate Governor John Kasich is a RINO.  He  has been anti-gun until 2015 (that’s when the NRA changed his grade from a “F” to an “A”), thinks that the Iran nuclear deal is a good one,  is soft on immigration, and supports Obama’s nomination to the Supreme Court.  Like all politicians, he says what we want to hear, but his past has been more Liberal than Conservative. He needs to give up his campaign and not play spoiler.

Our Government?

WARNING:  The following post can be considered a rant worthy of the Tin Hat Society.  Read at your own risk!

The preamble of the Constitution states proudly, “WE THE PEOPLE…”  The founding document of the country clearly states that the People are in charge of the Government, not the other way around.  However, that no longer appears to be the case.

Governments always seek more power, and the current political parties, both Democrat and Republican, aid in that quest.  It is very apparent that the political parties maliciously attempt to strip the public of it’s voice and the seizure of personal liberties, thus granting by proxy, more governmental power.  It almost seems that that there are more people voting to give away their rights than defending them.

Let’s start by looking at the Democrats and their supporters in this year’s elections.

The Democrats have stated in so many words that they want to strip you of your First and Second Amendment rights.  If you speak out against the Party’s platforms, you must be silenced even thought these same people state that they want to hear diverse opinions!!  Shouting down, ostracizing, and even physical violence have been employed to this end.  The Liberal wing of the Democrats also state that no matter what your religious views are, you must be tolerant and accommodating of other belief systems, whether it’s baking a cake for the wedding of a gay couple, or accepting of a person whose religion states that you are to be killed because you do not believe in the same religion as they do.  They claim to be for the children, yet support abortion.  They state that they are for the Citizens of this country, pledging to protect everyone, and yet allow the borders to be porous and importing potential terrorists.  Last, they wish to deny the citizenry the means to protect themselves by stating it’s for the public good, but allowed thousands of those same weapons to fall into the hands of narco-terrorists resulting in thousands of deaths.

And that, my friends, is only the tip of the iceberg for these clowns.  Confusing at best, deadly at worst, and so power-hungry it is unbelievable.  If you don’t believe me, look at the Hildebeast’s career, follow the money, the scandals, and the trail of bodies with the power that she and her husband have accumulated, and that is the embodiment of the worst-person to have in charge of this country.

The Republicans are better, not by much, though…

After 9/11, one of the most egregious pieces of legislation that violated an American’s civil rights was passed (the Patriot Act), and two new Federal bureaucracies were created:  The Department of Homeland Security and the Transportation Safety Administration.  Passed on the Republican’s watch, these two agencies join the mindless alphabet soup of Federal agencies that rule and regulate the average American’s lives with and without Congressional approval, and the Patriot Act enables Constitutional rights to be suspended indefinitely.  Funding for the agencies is passed without batting an eye, and the Patriot Act renewed without much argument.

Additionally, when confronted with the constant overreach of the Obama Administration, Congressional Republicans pleaded with the voters for several election cycles to elect Republicans to Congress to counteract, nullify, and overturn the damaging policies of the Administration.  By and large, they have not only been ineffective, but complicit in the continued assault on the American people’s rights and pocketbooks even with majorities in the House and Senate.

And they state that they need a majority in the House, the Senate, and a Republican in the White House.  And if they get it, what excuse will they make to break or ignore their campaign promises?

Let’s be clear – it doesn’t matter who is in power in our government – Democrats and Republicans – they will both screw over the American People.  Democrats will apparently do it faster than the Republicans, but the result will be the same.

Excerpts from Paul Driessen’ article “Washington’s Despotic Lawlessness”:

Washington is out of control. Legislators, judges and unelected bureaucrats want to control our lives, livelihoods and living standards, with no accountability even for major errors, calculated deception, or deliberate, often illegal assaults on our liberties and on citizens who resist the advancing Leviathan.

No one even knows how many Executive Branch agencies there are – estimates range from 60 to 438 – much less how many new rules they implement and impose each year. Officially, Crews says, they issued a staggering 3,554 new rules in 2014, while President Obama signed “only” 226 new laws enacted by Congress. Worse, of the 53,838 (!) formal final regulations included in the Federal Register from 2001 through 2014, only 160 (0.3%) received a “cost-benefit” analysis; we have no idea how the rest affect us.

Infinitely worse, this tip of the iceberg does not include tens of thousands of decrees issued in the form of:

  • notices, bulletins, proclamations, circulars, guidance memos, and new or revised interpretations, policy statements and procedures;
  • investigations, inquiries, warning letters, negotiated settlements to legal actions (often involving collusion between agencies and activist groups), explicit or veiled threats of legal action, armed agents raiding homes and businesses, or adverse publicity, coordinated with activists and the media; as well as
  • blog posts, news releases, and emails or telephone calls to citizens or company employees.

All these actions have the force and effect of law. But few or none are covered by Administrative Procedures Act “public notice and comment” requirements, so they often escape scrutiny by courts, watchdogs and Congress. Many are supported only by “homogenized,” manipulated data; elaborate, imaginative or imaginary regulatory benefits; cavalier dismissal of costs; and no mention of benefits from the activity, chemical, energy source, industry or jobs being regulated, sometimes into oblivion.

America’s “soft despotism” is light years from the atrocities and gulags of its infamous predecessors. But it is highly effective nonetheless. The same agencies write, impose, enforce and adjudicate the rules, and impose punishment for infractions. They work tirelessly and imperiously to “fundamentally transform” our nation’s legal, energy, economic and social systems…

They impose edicts that would never be supported by the People or enacted by Congress, and that they rarely if ever apply to themselves. They lavish billions on allies, while denying funding and legitimacy to critics, siccing IRS dogs on opposition groups, and threatening civil and criminal “racketeering” actions…

The Politicians have been actively dividing the American People into separate groups – the rich and the poor, the oppressed and the privileged, the police and the “innocent”, the whites and the non-whites, etc., etc., etc…  Pandering to each group to “fix” things if they are elected.  News flash – politicians cannot fix a damn thing!!  In fact, they usually make things worse!

The War on Poverty has been a dismal failure – billions have been spent, and the poverty rate is essentially unchanged.  The War on Drugs has not eliminated the drug trade despite the billions spent and thousands of arrests.  Obamacare is imploding, and just as many people are without health insurance because they cannot afford the most basic plan.

Where has this all gone wrong?  Let’s start with the following two examples:

republic vs democracy

The Constitution states that the Senators were to be appointed by the Legislatures of the states they represented in Article 1 Section 3.  This was changed by the 17th Amendment in 1913, which allowed for the direct election of Senators by the population.

The Permanent Apportionment Act of 1929 set the number of Representatives in the House to 435, which is in conflict with the Constitution’s Article 1, Section 2, Clause 3, which states “The Number of Representatives shall not exceed one for every thirty Thousand…”  Please note that this is NOT an Amendment to the Constitution, but a law passed by Congress.

The effect of both of these acts is to make both the House and Senate less accountable to the People of the United States.  People cannot pressure the Legislatures of their state to remove a Senator that does not represent them, and a Representative can ignore a vocal minority of voters in their district because of a dilution of representation.

The result of the above is a move away from a Republic to a Democracy.  This is disturbing from many angles as Democracy has been defined as “majority rules” or “mob rule.”  Even worse, countries with a purely Democratic government have failed miserably, usually from the inside (i.e., power-hungry politicians, for one).

And the political parties are taking advantage of all the above and then some.

The American People are beginning to wake up, although not quickly.  The rise of Donald Trump is but one sign that this is happening, although it is my personal opinion that Trump is not the correct person for the Office of the President of the United States.

However, the American People cannot depend on one person to right the ship that is the USS United States.  It will take more than that – election and oversight of the people being elected to governmental offices by the voters.  We cannot elect and forget because that is exactly how We The People allowed the government, the politicians, and the bureaucrats to accumulate the power that they have.

Another Political Post

As far as I’m concerned, the fix is in for the Democrats – come hell or high water (barring a Federal indictment), the Hildebeast will become the Democratic nominee for President.  It won’t matter if “The Bern” manages to get more delegates through the primaries than the Hildebeast, the superdelegates will ensure that the Hildebeast is the nominee.  In the words of the Democratic Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz:

“The unpledged delegates are a separate category. The only thing available on the ballot in a primary and a caucus is the pledged delegates— those that are tied to the candidate that they are pledged to support, and they receive a proportional number of delegates going into our convention.

Unpledged delegates exist really to make sure that party leaders and elected officials don’t have to be in a position where they are running against grassroots activists. We are as a Democratic Party really highlight and emphasize inclusiveness and diversity at our convention, and so we want to give every opportunity to grassroots activists and diverse, committed Democrats to be able to participate, attend, and be a delegate at the convention. And so we separate out those unpledged delegates to make sure that there isn’t competition between them.

Read the first sentence of the second paragraph again.  In other words, superdelegates (who have 15% of the delegate count) can ignore the will of the people and use their power to nominate the Party’s favorite (i.e., insider) for the highest political office of the United States.  The Democratic Party’s superdelegates exist to preserve the power and influence of the Democratic Party’s elite.

So much for standing for and representing the people supporting the Democratic Party…

The outlook for the establishment Republicans isn’t much better.  Donald Trump is causing a great deal of heartburn among the Republican elite which is evidenced by trotting out past presidential candidate Mitt Romney to slam Trump.  I have the following response to the Republican Party leadership:

Stop.  Just stop.

Donald Trump and the Republican Party signed papers and agreed that Trump would run for the Republican nomination for President under the Republican Party’s banner.  Now that Trump is running away from the establishment choice of candidates, you want to trash him?  All you are doing is giving the Democrats ammunition for the election, and ticking off a great number of people who support him.  You are also proving that you are no different from the Democrats as they like to pick and choose from among their “chosen ones.”  If Trump wins the delegate count and the Republican leadership refuses to nominate him, the Republican voters will stay home, handing the Presidency to the Hildebeast.

So much for standing for and representing the people and the country…

The following is an open plea for any Conservative reading this post and thinking about staying home if your candidate is not nominated by the Republican Party for President.

At this point in time, there is a three-way race for the nomination:  Trump, Cruz, and Rubio (Kasich is too far behind to make a difference).  Trump is gaining more delegates, and unless he self-destructs or the Republican Party leadership pulls a fast one, he will become the Republican Party’s nominee.

I know that many people are not enamored with Trump – I’m not.  I would much rather have Ted Cruz.  However, not voting Republican (staying home or voting for a third party candidate) is a vote for the Democrats.  We as a People and a Country cannot stand another four years of the same failed policies AND Progressive Liberal appointees (one to possibly three) to the Supreme Court.  The country and the citizens would suffer for generations.

Do what you have to do to vote for the Republican candidate in this fall’s election – clothespins on the nose, bourbon, or any other (legal) means to get yourself through to vote ABC (anybody-but-Clinton).
