4th of july

Normally, I do not write comments, viewpoints, or rant away on National Holidays, but this holiday is a special one for me.

On this day in 1776, delegates from the 13 original Colonies gathered together to affix their names to a document that, quite frankly, was treasonous to the Crown of England.  The delegates, in this action of bringing forth their grievances to the King of England virtually signed their death warrants.  In essence, the delegates were declaring that since the King of England and Parliament was not treating them, English citizens in English colonies, fairly and equally under English law governing the rest of the British Empire.  Thus, they declared that the Colonies were no longer under the rule of the Crown.

I would invite all readers of this post to take the time to read the Declaration of Independence and understand what We The People were rebelling against – Unjust rule by a Government.  I would further invite the readers of this post to compare the complaints of the delegates to the actions of our government, and to ask themselves if the actions of our current administration mirror those listed in the Declaration of Independence.  I think that the similarities will shock you.

As a reminder, the mid-term elections are just a few months away.  I certainly hope that each and every reader is asking the candidates for their views upon the issues and reviewing their records.  The only way that government is to be turned around is for the People to elect capable people who believe that government is for the People, not over them.
