Can We Save Ourselves?

Z found this article from Walter Williams:

Can President Obama be defeated in 2012?  No.  He can’t.

I am going on record as saying that President Barak Obama will win a second term.  The media won’t tell you this because a good election campaign means hundreds of millions (or in Obama’s case billions) of dollars to them in advertising.  But the truth is, *there simply are no conditions under which Barak Obama can be defeated in 2012.

The quality of the Republican candidate doesn’t matter.  Obama gets reelected.

Nine percent unemployment?  No problem.  Obama will win.

Gas prices moving toward five dollars a gallon?  He still wins.

The economy soars or goes into the gutter.  Obama wins.

War in the Middle East?  He wins a second term.

America’s role as the leading Superpower disappears?  Hurrah for Barak Obama!

The U.S. government rushes toward bankruptcy, the dollar continues to sink on world markets and the price of daily goods and services soars due to inflation fueled by Obama’s extraordinary deficit spending?  Obama wins handily.

You are crazy Williams.  Don’t you understand how volatile politics can be when overall economic, government, and world conditions are declining?  Sure I do.  And that’s why I know Obama will win.

The American people are notoriously ignorant of economics.  And economics is the key to why Obama should be defeated.  Even when Obama’s policies lead the nation to final ruin, the majority of the American people are going to believe the bait-and-switch tactics Obama and his supporters in the media will use to explain why it isn’t his fault.  After all, things were much worse than understood when he took office.

Obama’s reelection is really a very, very simple math problem.  Consider the following:

  1. Blacks will vote for Obama blindly.  Period.  Doesn’t matter what he does.  It’s a race thing.
  2. College educated women will vote for Obama.  Though they will be offended by this, they swoon at his oratory.  It’s really not more complex than that,
  3. Liberals will vote for Obama.  He is their great hope,
  4. Democrats will vote for Obama.  He is the leader of their party and his coattails will carry them to victory nationwide,
  5. Hispanics will vote for Obama.  He is the path to citizenship for those who are illegal and Hispanic leaders recognize the political clout they carry in the Democratic Party,
  6. Union members will vote overwhelmingly for Obama.  He is their key to money and power in business, state and local politics,
  7. Big Business will support Obama.  They already have.  He has almost $1 Billion dollars in his reelection purse gained largely from his connections with Big Business and is gaining more everyday.  Big Business loves Obama because he gives them access to taxpayer money so long as they support his social and political agenda,
  8. The media love him.  They may attack the people who work for him, but they love him.  After all… to not love him would be racist,
  9. Most other minorities and special interest groups will vote for him.  Oddly, the overwhelming majority of Jews and Muslims will support him because they won’t vote Republican.  American Indians will support him.  Obviously homosexuals tend to vote Democratic.  And lastly,
  10. Approximately half of independents will vote for Obama.  And he doesn’t need anywhere near that number because he has all of the groups previously mentioned.  The President will win an overwhelming victory in 2012.

Considering the previous post, we could face another four years of this clown unless a better clown rises up from the Republican Party to oppose him.  And that, my friends, is a scarier prospect.

I wonder which empty suit would replace the current one…

Just think – Obummer was elected and continues to shout his battle cry “Blame Bush” in all it’s iterations.  Everything from the economic downturn to rising energy prices (and everything else in between) is still the previous administration’s fault.  Where does Obummer take charge of his Administration?  As long as he can, it’s someone else’s fault.  I wonder who else would be elected would go down this same path.  I can just hear it now – “Blame Barry!”  But that won’t fix any of the problems that face now and in the future.

A sagging economy, rising energy prices, and an unemployment rate is just the start of the troubles we as a nation face.  Add a mounting deficit and plummeting dollar, and things get infinitely worse.  I’ve recently watched a show that documents the many problems that our decaying infrastructure is going to present to us, so our roads & other public utilities failing will hinder the recovery.  And the Pied Piper politicians keep on piping with the unicorns and rainbows in the background while the country burns down.  And the populace has let them.

Let us not be unaware that merely replacing one bad Administration with another bad Administration is going to solve anything.  We must elect our government with the idea that they work for us and we control their paychecks, and not the other way around.

Food for Thought

Ran across the following & thought it should be shared:

The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the Presidency. It will be far easier to limit and undo the follies of an Obama presidency than to restore the necessary common sense and good judgment to a depraved electorate willing to have such a man for their president. The problem is much deeper and far more serious than Mr. Obama, who is a mere symptom of what ails America. Blaming the prince of the fools should not blind anyone to the vast confederacy of fools that made him their prince. The Republic can survive a Barack Obama, who is, after all, merely a fool. It is less likely to survive a multitude of fools such as those who made him their president.

I’m only hoping that the Republicans can front a better candidate than those that have come forward at this time.

Rainbows & Unicorns

Looking over the past few weeks, I just have to shake my head and wonder –

Where the Hell is the country headed?

The current crop of politicians angling for the Republican nomination for 2012 is lackluster at best, and generally uninspiring.  Yeah, we all want Obummer out of the White House, but who to replace him with?

I remember when Obamamania was in full swing, especially with the rest of the world thinking that he was the perfect replacement for George Bush.  Just thinking about the rest of the world getting sucked into this empty suit would be absolutely funny if it weren’t so sad.  The perfect example is Obummer receiving the Nobel Peace Prize for nothing more than he wasn’t George Bush, but just the implied promise that he would save the world (by the way, the world is anything but peaceful, with more violence than the years before).  Then the broken promises ranging anywhere from saving a pooch from the pound to closing Gitmo to getting out of Iraq.  Let’s not mention the bungling of the Gulf Oil Crisis, and the constant insistence that Radical Islam is not a danger to the citizens of this country.

Yep, Rainbows and Unicorns is what the Obama campaign promised along with the Hope and Change.  I am seeing anything but and am not feeling the love.

Now I fear we are going to become ensnared in Libya.  While I agree with my fellow bloggers that LIbyan strongman Moammar Gadhafi is an evil person, I’m not for opening up another front in the Mideast.  This country has its hands quite full with Iraq and Afghanistan than to involve itself militarily in another country, and no exit strategy whatsoever. Let’s put it another way – How can we, as a country, declare our sovereignty without respecting another country’s sovereignty?  If not, then we might as well open up the borders to anyone and submit to the UN for rule.  Sorry, folks, I just cannot buy what the politicians are selling for this action.

And then the latest assault on free speech – Koran burning.  From Politico:

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), a military lawyer, is the first member of Congress to say the legislature needs to explore the possibility, however unlikely, of limiting some kinds of free speech – like Terry Jones’ Quran burning – that help America’s enemies.

"During World War II, we had limits on what you could do if it inspired the enemy," Graham said, adding that he wanted to do "anything we can to push back here in America against acts like this that put our troops at risk."

OK, are we in a war or not with the Radical Islamists?  Listening to the Administration’s rhetoric, the Islamists are misunderstood, and we need to reach out to them for understanding.  More Rainbows & Unicorns….

More importantly, what about the burning of the American flag & Bibles, and other items various people hold dear that are protected by Free Speech?  I liked this comment in the Politico article:

Sen. Lindsey Graham is a spineless, sniveling, girlie-man of a coward. To even consider giving up even one of America’s constitutional rights because some whack-jobs in Afghanistan get excited only shows that as far as Sen. Lindsey Graham is concerned Afghanistan has won the war. This fruitcake is ready to buckle under on one of America’s most cherished and valued freedoms and throw it under the bus because HE sees a few rag-heads raise a little hell. What next Senator, which of our freedoms would you cede next because some mob somewhere on earth decides to hold a demonstration?

Folks, politicians aren’t going to defend your freedom, it’s the soldiers and concerned citizens who believe in the Constitution and the spirit of this nation.  Vote, write, and raise some Hell with our elected officials.  Make them listen to the squeaking wheel, and hold them accountable.  As I’ve written before:

In case any of you didn’t know, a typical politician’s primary job is not to serve the people who elected him. His primary job is to get himself (or herself) elected or re-elected. Second is to reward all those contributors that gave $$ to help him get elected. Third is to get as many perks & benefits as he can while he is in office. Last on the list is the common person like you & I.

Yep, still true…
