It’s official – Al Franken is now the Senator representing Minnesota. This gives the Democrats a super-majority in the Senate, and can fend off any filibusters the Republicans would be able to mount against them.
Providing the Democrats get their act together, and I don’t think Franken will help their cause.
From what little I’ve heard and seen of Senator Franken, he will be hard pressed not to lose his semi-legendary temper when challenged. I have heard that he tends to reduce himself to name calling and profanity when an argument doesn’t go his way. Perhaps this was one of the reasons that Air America died a dismal death…
But here’s the point: The pundits were going back and forth as to when President and the Democrats would really own the show instead of being leftover from the Bush days. I’ve always thought that the second that Obama signed the “stimulus” bill into law was when the state of the nation fell directly into his lap. After all, he pushed for it, stated that he would not sign a law with earmarks & pork, and did it anyway. Now with Franken on board, it’s now official.
Any screw-ups the Democrats and the teleprompter reading President make is squarely on their shoulders. And if they don’t like it, then kindly recall this quote from a past Democratic President –
If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. – Harry S. Truman
And don’t let the door hit you on the a** on the way out…
